A familiar symbol representing our inner wisdom, wizards are ubiquitous in fantasy films, novels and art. The magician, sage or shaman is a potent archetypal symbol of our inner wisdom and has been represented in human art for millennia. Here we see the wizard creating himself out of pure energy and assuming a spiral shape. Spiral shapes are seen throughout our universe, from the smallest (DNA) to the largest (galaxies). His familiar, a dragon, is wound around the staff of knowledge and healing. Tired of the same old paintings of magicians with pointy hats, I wanted to give shape to something extremely energetic and dynamic.
