In between the billions of tiny, sub-atomic “particles,” or wavelike fields of possibility in the human body, there is only space. In this painting we see patterns of atoms and molecules emerging from emptiness into a facial form, the semblance of a human being. The Prajna Paramita Sutra, a core teaching of Zen Buddhism, states: “Form here is only emptiness, emptiness only form.”
